Strainmeters are connected to strain gages and strain-gage-type transducers in order to take measurements. A strain gage generates changes in resistance that are proportional to the amount of strain applied to it, and it operates on the principle that the amount of strain can be determined by measuring the amount of changes. However, these changes must be electrically amplified in order to measure them because they are so small. This is the purpose of strainmeters, and TML offers a wide range of such meters that vary in measurement output method, frequency response, usage, shape and functions. TML strainmeters not only measure strain, but are fully capable of measuring voltage and temperature as well.

Data Loggers / Static Strainmeters

Strain that remains constant over time is called static strain, and is measured using static strainmeters. A static strainmeter can display static strain digitally because the values do not change during the measuring period. Moreover, a single strainmeter can switch rapidly to successively measure a large number of points.

Dynamic Strainmeters

Strain that changes over time is called dynamic strain, and is measured using a dynamic strainmeter. Dynamic strainmeters output changes in strain as analog signals that are recorded, measured and analyzed using external recording devices. As a rule, a meter and recording device is required for each measuring point channel.

Histogram Recorder

TML histogram recording system uses preset programs to analyze phenomenon such as strain that changes over time, and it stores that analytical data as a histogram. TML histogram recording systems yield histograms immediately after measurements are taken because they analyze and record a phenomenon count while they measure. They can also measure continuously for periods exceeding one full year because they do not store waveform data or use magnetic tape.

Indicators

TML indicators and signal conditioners are used with strain gage type transducers such as load cells, displacement transducers and pressure transducers to measure physical quantities. Most display is in digit, but analog output, high/low limit switches, etc. are also provided. Panel mounting type is used for instrumentation.
